Could you say that one more time?” Angel asked the Fulgari demon he was talking to through gritted teeth. The Fulgari didn’t speak English and Angel’s Fulgarian was a bit rusty–and his Portuguese; wasn’t much better; to Angel it sounded like he was telling him the river ate his cheese. So, unless the demon had a very odd sense of humour, Angel was going to need to find a translator–or just talk to someone else.

The Fulgari repeated itself, making wild hand gestures to try and convey what he was saying to the vampire–unfortunately, Angel had never been good at charades.

Okay, okay,” Angel interrupted. “Let’s try this slow–one word at time. Tell me what you–” Angel froze when he heard a familiar voice from somewhere behind him. He turned around and scanned the bodies in the crowded market until his eyes caught a flash of bright read hair amongst the predominantly dark-headed crowd.

The Fulgari forgotten, Angel began to drift toward the sound of her voice.

Nice try, pal,” she said the barterer behind the booth. “But did you really think you could pass of this crap as authentic fairy dust? Do you know who you’re dealing with? I’m a powerful wicca people, I know real fairy dust when I see it!” She crossed her arms over her chest and raised her chin. “It’s pretty rude of you to try and swindle me like this. You know, I should turn you into a toad or something!”

A smile twitched at the corners of Angel’s mouth–been a long time since he did that–as he remembered the time he himself had faced the wrath of the petite redhead.

You’re gonna live forever, you don’t have time for a cup of coffee!

It seemed like a million years ago and a world away since that happened. And it was, a world a way at least. Angel couldn’t believe of all the places in the world, he would see her hear in the middle of a demon market in the heart of Brazil

She whirled around at the sound of her voice, her green eyes going wide as they landed on the vampire.

Angel!” She stepped away from the booth and flung her arms around him.

Angel smiled outright as he returned her embrace.

What the heck are you doing here?” she asked, pulling away. “Of all the demon markets in all the world...”

Angel chuckled. “I was just about thinking the same thing. What brings you to Brazil?”

Oh, I’ve been here for a while now,” Willow replied. “But, why are you here?”

Angel rubbed the back of his neck. “I’ve just been traveling a lot. Needed a change.”

Willow nodded in understanding.

Willow!” A small dark-haired girl called to her from across the way.

Willow turned away from Angel and called back. “I’ll be right there!”

She looked back to Angel smiling apologetically. “Sorry. I kinda have to get going.”

Oh.” Angel tried to hide his disappointment. “I understand.”

But, hey listen, I’d love to catch up with you sometime,” Willow said. “Are you going to be in town for a while?”

Well, I don’t really have any where else to be. I guess I could stick around for awhile. Maybe we could get coffee sometime,” he suggested, mouth twitching.

Willow laughed.

I’ve got the time if you do.”

The end.
